Mockingjay
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Now that I am done the whole series I am left with a bit of an empty feeling. I was hoping for a stellar ending and in all fairness it was ok, however I feel as if something was missing. It seemed that detail was given to things that didn’t need details and then things I wanted to know were glossed over. I realize that this series is geared towards teenagers however there was the start of complex relationships and no finish to them. At the end it was just this is how it is now. I want to know what happened In between.

This feeling has made me really rethink if these books deserve 3 stars. I say they do because it wasn’t the worst series I have read but regardless there is something missing. There were times that it had me flying through chapters, turning page after page trying to figure out what happened next. Then there were chapters that I just wanted to pack it in and say forget it.

Katniss in the book kept asking why she wasn’t dead, she should be. At the end I was wishing she was and asking the same thing.

I’m not disappointed that I read them because I have high expectations for the movies. This might be one of the few times the movie is better then the books.

Sure pick them up and read them however I think there are better summer reads out there. Maybe my opinion will change tomorrow after I sleep on it, but this is my first impression which probably makes it the most truthful one.
